We both moved from interstate to study in Melbourne and met on the night of our first college function, where we realised we would be living and studying full time together.
We desperately wanted to escape the unpredictable and often terrible Melbourne weather and loved the idea of a destination wedding where our friends and family could enjoy a fun weekend all together.
We visited Earth House on the most beautiful winter day and it was literally sparking in the sunlight. It was such a gorgeous natural landscape but also offered us the ability to customize our wedding and put our stamp on it, as opposed to so many of the cookie-cutter, package wedding venues we had previously looked at.
Once we chose EarthHouse, we had a lot of contact with Munro over the next 18 months and he was so fantastic and accommodating during some trying times.
Our vision for the day was more about how we wanted the wedding to feel – relaxed and fun and with a focus on good food and drinks.
STYLING & COORDINATION
Roxy from Frank and Joy was the most amazing hire. We could not have done it without her. She was so patient and helpful, while trying to wedding plan during a pandemic. Nothing was too hard and she really streamlined all our ideas and made the day so easy and seamless. I wish I could hire her to plan the rest of my life!
HAIR & MAKEUP
Clare Moriarty and Alexis Mahoney were both fantastic and so calm and professional while we were getting ready.
Our celebrant, Jess Dowell, was incredibly easy to work with and told our story like she was an old friend.
Dan Clark made my husband cry with his perfect rendition of our aisle song and created a lovely atmosphere for our post-ceremony drinks.
Estelle from The French Petal was an absolute genius and nailed our floral brief. I was completely overwhelmed when I walked into the venue and saw her huge arbour.
FOOD & DRINKS
We had heard great things about 100 Mile Table and they lived up to expectations. At least 50 people told us after the wedding that the fried chicken was the best they had ever eaten. The staff were wonderful and made a huge effort to make sure we were fed and had a drink in hand all night.
Van Middleton had to work with two extremely photo-shy people but managed to get lots of candid shots that captured the joy of the day, as well as some beautiful family photos we will treasure.
A MEMORABLE MOMENT
Trying to plan a wedding during a pandemic did suck some of the fun out of it and there were times we wondered if it was even worth it. However once we finally got there, and were able to stand in front of our friends and family and read our vows to each other, it really cemented how special a wedding should be.
